All About AKK's of Kabo
We are a family that each own a few AKK making up AKK's of Kabo.
All our dogs do not live in the same house, each lives with their own family. They visit each other often for play time.
We, Samantha and David Perfect were the first to get an AKK. Kabo was our first male and we all fell in love with the breed. We soon added Kinsey, our first breeding female. We have kept a female from our current litter in the hopes she will be come breed quality. So we currently own 2 adults and 1 puppy.
My parents, Jim and Tammy Tyrrell own 2 AKK. They have a female, Kena and a male, Kilo.
My brother, Jimmy owns 2 AKK as well. He has Kiara and Kaya, but she is spayed and is his baby.
You can read more about each of our dogs on the "Our Boys" and "Our Girls" pages.
We are what you would call "hobby" breeders. We love puppies, we love the experience, we love sharing this breed with others as well as helping to better the breed. At AKK's of Kabo we strive for excellent health, temperament and structure.
We had our first litter of AKK in August of 2007. We are a small breeder with only a couple of litters a year. We bred Chihuahuas for over 6 years and had our last litter in August of 2007. Our Chihuahua, Maggie had to have a c-section so we had her spayed at that time. This was in the morning and that night we had our first litter of AKK. We had the end of one and begining of the other the same day, hours apart. Kinda wierd :)
ALL of our dogs live in the house. They are crated during the day when we are not home for their safety and a couple chose to sleep in their crates at night. The rest sleep in bed. Kiara's favorite place to sleep is on a pillow above my mom's head every night. Several of them love to sleep in the round bloster beds at the end of our beds. It is nice, keeps the hair in one place ;) Our dogs usually are found on the couch next to us, in one of the many dog bed placed around the house or somehwere near us. None of them let us get to far away. They are NOT kennel dogs, they are part of our family and always with us.
When we have a litter of puppies, they are raised in the home with us. They are a part of the family from day one until they leave us. They start out in a baby pool that is usually in the living room (depending on the female, they may start out in the bedroom, until the she is comfortable with the other dogs being around). Once they start to escape the pool, we place them in a puppy play pen that is set up in our living room/kitchen. They are in this when we are gone but when we are home they have free run with the rest of the dogs.
We welcome anyone that wishes to visit and meet our AKK.
