All About AKKs of Kabo
We are a family that each own a few AKKs making up AKK's of Kabo. Parents Jim and Tammy, son Jimmy and his wife, Alyssa and daughter Samantha and her husband, David.
All our dogs do not live in the same house, each lives with their own family. They visit each other often for play time.
Samantha and David were the first to get an AKK. Kabo was our first male and we all fell in love with the breed. They soon added Kinsey, our first breeding female. They have kept a female, Kali, from a litter to add to their family. Kinsey has gone to live with Jim and Tammy. They now have 2 AKK. Samantha and David also added the first human addition to our family. Caitlyn was born Feb 11, 2009 and is an absolute joy. She just loves all the dogs and they love her right back :)
Jim and Tammy own 6 AKK. They have 5 females and 1 male, Kiara, Kena, Ziva, Kinsey, Angel and Zephyr. Kena and Angel are not breeders just our babies.
Jimmy and Alyssa own 3 AKK as well. They have 2 females Kaya, she is spayed and is their baby. Kassie from a Kaira/Kilo litter and one male, Gibbs, from a Kiara/Kabo litter, he is also neutered.
You can read more about each of our dogs on the "Our Boys and Our Girls" page.
We are what you would call "hobby" breeders. We love puppies, we love the experience, we love sharing this breed with others as well as helping to better the breed. At AKK's of Kabo we strive for excellent health, temperament and structure.
We had our first litter of AKK in August of 2007. We are a small breeder with only a couple of litters a year. We bred Chihuahuas for over 6 years and had our last litter in August of 2007. Our Chihuahua, Maggie had to have a c-section so we had her spayed at that time. This was in the morning and that night we had our first litter of AKK. We had the end of one and beginning of the other the same day, hours apart. Kinda weird :)
ALL of our dogs live in the house. They are crated during the day when we are not home for their safety and a couple chose to sleep in their crates at night. The rest sleep in bed. Kiara's favorite place to sleep is on a pillow above my mom's head every night. Several of them love to sleep in the round bolster beds at the end of our beds. It is nice, keeps the hair in one place ;) Our dogs usually are found on the couch next to us, in one of the many dog beds placed around the house or somewhere near us. None of them let us get to far away. They are NOT kennel dogs, they are part of our family and always with us.
When we have a litter of puppies, they are raised in the home with us. They are a part of the family from day one until they leave us. They start out in a baby pool that is usually in the living room (depending on the female, they may start out in the bedroom, until the she is comfortable with the other dogs being around). Once they start to escape the pool, we place them in a puppy play pen that is set up in our living room/kitchen or computer room. They are in this when we are gone but when we are home they have free run with the rest of the dogs.
We welcome anyone that wishes to visit and meet our AKK.

I'd like to tell you again how much joy Kodi has brought to us this last year and how thankful we are to have him. From the minute we left your house Kodi has always been so sure of himself - standing proudly in a strange place with strangers. As sure of himself as he is, he is also a big ball of energy and love. He is very loyal to all of us but especially to me. Although he loves to run and play with our other 3 dogs, he always makes it a point to come and "check-in" every 10 minutes just to see what we are doing. I only wish I had 1/10th of his energy. But come time to relax for the evening he's always on my lap. He's fit in with our family from the day he arrived. I believe his gentle manners and self-assuredness are proof of how well he was raised during the first 10 weeks of life with you guys. The love and care you provide to your pups shines through in many ways. Kodi is so gentle - even when wrestling and he was a breeze to house break. Our vet was so impressed that you continue to care about these "kids" even long after they are in their own loving families and said it's not often a breeder is so concerned one year later as he was filling out your questionnaire. He was really impressed.
And as you know - I hope you are still breeding AKK when w're ready to add another family member. We will definitely be calling when ready.

We hope to be around for a long time, so just let us know when your ready for your new baby :)
I just wanted to drop a quick note and tell you how wonderful my experience ith AKK's of Kabo has been! My husband and I did a lot of research before choosing an AKK for our family. You two made the whole process easy from checking out the parents, seeing multiple pictures each week, and responding to my many questions via email. We are so happy with the temperment and health of our Loki. He is just the best, smartest puppy ever!
Thanks again for Loki and perhaps in the future we will add another puppy from AKK's of Kabo to our family!

I have only had my AKK for about 7 months and it has been some of the best 7 months ever! Tammy and her family take such great care of the puppies before they are placed in a home. I saw how my Zuk was treated before I took him home with me and it was hard for me to take him because of all the love that he was shown at Tammy's! Zuk is the most loveable little pup and SO loyal. When I first got him, he would never leave my side and whenever he thought I was in danger he would always be sure to stand guard. I had so amny questions after I got my little Zuk and Tammy always answered my questions and everything that she said has really worked. Tammy and her family are great breeders and although the breed is very good, I believe that Zuk is a more loving puppy because of where he came from before he came home with me. I love AKKs of Kabo!!

Dear Tammy and Samantha,
We can't say enough about our experience with our little Boomer at AKKs of Kabo! Your way of bringing up the little pups as part of your family, right in your home is so wonderful. Definitely makes for a well adjusted puppy ready to become part of his or her forever family!
You both were so patient and kind in answering all our zillion questions and emails regarding Alaskan Klee Kai and puppies in general. We also appreciate the multiple visits to your home in order to make our decision on the right little guy for us. We always felt so welcome and it was a pleasure getting to know you. With Boomer in our lives we will always feel like you are part of our extended family.
Thanks so much,
Kelly, Don and Kids owners of Boomer

I had a wonderful experience with AKKs of Kabo! I really liked the fact that they raised the puppies INSIDE of the house like the rest of the family rather that in a kennel type set up. That made me feel like I was getting a good quality puppy that was raised in a great environment. I was especially pleased when I saw the inside of the house. It was very clean to say the least. AKKs of Kabo also provided a puppy packet as we were taking our baby home and we got to meet the rest of the "family;" the mother, father, the brothers and sister....everyone! It was really nice to see them interact. The puppy packet included so much information and items that were of a GREAT importance. Our puppy vomited once and had diarrhea for a day after I fed him different dog biscuits and AKKs of Kabo were right there when I needed them! I emailed them about it and they had all sorts of suggestions and I also used the handy puppy packet. It had a sheet of human medicines and remedies that could be used with our puppy. Our puppy was fine after a day. I am currently in the process of changing our puppy over to the puppy food, that the litter was raised on initially. I should have known it was a better choice even though our own vet recommended what I was feeding him. In many cases the breeders know more than a vet would know because they are specialists in that specific breed while the vets are not. AKKs are a new breed to our clinic. I would recommend AKKs of Kabo to anyone and everyone interested in a quality dog and top notch service. I wouldn't really call it "service"; They are an extended part of our family now. We love our AKK!! and we love our breeders!! Thank you AKKs of Kabo!!!

Meet my AKK, Cybele.
Cybele is extremely loving, caring, playful and smart! She is always wanting to make me happy- which really makes training easy. She loves being right by my side and going on long walks.
As a first time puppy owner, I am extremely pleased with my decision to raise an AKK. AKKs of Kabo were wonderful to work with and made the process easy. I would recommend AKKs of Kabo to anyone interested in owning as AKK - in fact, I have multiple times because wherever you go with your pup, people will stop and ask, get ready to socialize!

My experience with AKKs of Kabo was excellent! Everything went smoothly and my puppy is more than I could have hoped for. I plan on adding a baby girl pup in the future and it will surely be from Akks of Kabo!

Dealing with AKKs of Kabo was a great experience. I have never bought a puppy from a breeder, let alone one out of state. These type of transactions, understandably brood doubt, but after getting to speak with Tammy and her daughter, Samantha, I instantly felt comfortable and at ease about how legitimate they are. They were very friendly and I could tell that they honestly care about the safety of their puppies. They are also very patient :) and I would love to do business with them, if they would let me have another of their gorgeous puppies. Thank you Tammy and AKK of Kabo! Great Experience!

Zoe has been a very welcomed addition to our family. I had been waiting to adopt an Alaskan Klee Kai into our family ever since I discovered this breed about 3 years ago. When our family was ready to adopt it became very apparent to us that AKK's of Kabo was an excellent choice of breeder to use. It was obvious to us how much they loved their dogs and we knew that Zoe had been well taken care of. We were so impressed and thankful for the special notebook that we came home with containing information, pictures, stories, and so forth. AKK's of Kabo made the adoption process very easy for us and it is nice that they continue to want to know how Zoe is dong. Our Zoe is an amazing little dog who knows how to make every member of the family feel loved and important. She loves being around people and loves to snuggle up with us, especially at night. She has lots of energy and cannot wait to get out walking each day. Zoe is very smart and learns quickly .... puppy training class was a breeze for her! Zoe needed to be socialized in the beginning as she was unsure of other dogs, but now she loves having play dates and spending time with other dogs. Her best friend though is a cat! We cannot even begin to describe what a wonderful experience bringing Zoe into our home has been ... she has stolen our hearts. No matter how stressful a day we may have had at work .... walking into our front door to find Zoe jumping up and down and talking to us and wanting kisses makes any bad day go away. We truly are blessed to have her and I would not be surprised if one day we bring home a playmate for her :) We are all very thankful to AKK's of Kabo for our little Zoe.

Paxson is so much a part of this family! He's only been with us a little over a year, but he has secured his place in our home. He absolutely loves being a part of the family and will not allow anything to go on in this house without his "input". We love his face in ours and his love for walks, playing and just hanging out. Although our children aren't home as much due to college, he relishes their presence when they arrive, and they can't wait to get home to see him.
At first, we weren't sure why you had so much concern for the transition and Paxson's future. We know you obviously would have a real desire to see each of your "kids" find a wonderful, lovong home. But we quickly appreciated and applauded the extra care you take in the process. You truely love these precious animals and their future. We love sharing Paxson's growth and maturing with you and only wish you could be here sometimes to see your lilltle "boy" grow up. He is still as playful as ever, but is really developing into a caring and sensitive guy.
Paxson loves being home, but really loves visiting our cottage. We almost get more pleasure knowing what fun he'll have than our our own. The experience couldn't have been any better. We look forward to continuing to share with you the love and joy he brings to all of us!

My experience with AKKs of Kabo was excellent. I first became aware of AKKs of Kabo and AKKs when I met Zoe. When I heard about where she came from and how the puppies were treated and everything that came with them, I went online and saw Allie and fell in love with her. AKKs of Kabo made the process of bringing Allie home to Canada very easy. When I went to pick her up they had all the required documentation ready and I had no problem bringing her across the border. She is now very much a part of our family. It is quite fun to come home after work and have someone who has missed you so much you get "talked" to. I would certainly recommend AKKs of Kabo to anyone looking to expand their family. The puppies were raised in a family home and therefore they have no problem adjusting. Thank you so much for Allie, she is a joy to have. Bernice - Owner of Allie
"We have had Niko for a few weeks now and we couldn’t be happier. He is so well behaved that people can’t believe he is only 11 weeks old. He is quick to learn and listens extremely well. We had no issues adapting him to us or his new environment. His personality is perfect for us and he is quite the talker when he gets excited but doesn’t ever bark randomly at anything. We didn’t understand what all the descriptions on the AKKs of Kabo website meant by saying “he/she is quite the talker” until we got Niko home and realized that he is actually trying to talk to us, which is very entertaining. It is apparent that AKKs of Kabo raised him and treated him very well during his first two months because of how happy go lucky he is and how well he adapted into our home as well as his crate. I have a lot of friends who have had problems with their puppies and when I ask about the breeder it always sounds a little iffy. Samantha, Tammy, and the rest of their family on the other hand were very easy to deal with and happy to answer all our questions very promptly leading up to the purchase of Niko. They welcomed us into their house to let us see where Niko was raised and gave us a chance to interact with his parents. We could tell right away we made a good choice. If we ever decide to get another AKK there is no doubt we would get one from the AKKs of Kabo even if we had to travel a few days to get there. Thanks again for all your help and such a wonderful AKK."
